John Bogard

Gerlach, Nevada

John Bogard (1948-) was born and reared in Berkeley, California, where he received his high school diploma from Berkeley High School. He studied at UC Santa Cruz, where he was a student of Al Johnsen. He also studied at the Big Creek Pottery. He has worked in the medium since 1969. In 1974, he moved to Gerlach, Nevada, where he set up the Planet X Pottery. His work is primarily functional stoneware and porcelain, as well as he creates decorative raku and wall sculpture. John works in the medium of painting, to add. In 1996, his work was included in an important article detailing Nevada potters in the Studio Potter. He has regularly exhibited and sold his work in Northern Nevada.
